Meal Prep - How to survive the Whole 30 weekdays

Sunday’s - PREP, PREP & PREP!

Meal prep is huge when doing Whole 30 and we know that it can make or break our success! Now we are not going to lie and say meal prep is always fun…it takes time. Sunday’s are our prep day and it really helps start our work week off right.

Every Sunday over coffee we usually sit with Hazel (our dog), windows open and make our grocery list. We section our list into categories (inspired by Ina Garten): Freezer, Veggies, Fruit, Pantry and other. This helps us make the grocery trip easy and a little less time consuming. Lists help especially if, like us the only time to go shopping is one of the weekend days. We try to get to our grocery store right when it opens to avoid the crazy crowds.

We try to clean the kitchen and refrigerator before we hit the store! Once we have efficiently gone through our list, and avoided the middle isle then we unpack! Now we cook!

Our Sunday Prep Tips:

  1. Have lunch containers ready to pack. We found the containers with attachable dressing cups make salads easy to pack!

  2. Start with long baking time or any crockpot recipes

  3. Have an idea of weekly meal ideas. Come Tuesday or Thursday when you’re tired, and take out sounds like the only option, just look at what you planned. This motivates us to cook because we know we have all ingredients!

  4. Prep Monday - Wednesday breakfast and lunches, Wednesday we make a few easy salads for lunches

  5. Cook with someone! It always helps to have a cooking partner, we are so busy during the week this is kind of like our day date!

  6. Each week thing of something new to try!
